In 2014, Samsung introduced My Knox to its handsets. This was a security platform that separated a user's work apps from his/her personal apps, and kept them secure. The Knox "sandbox" allowed users to use the same phone for work and play without having to worry about work data getting stolen or mixed up with personal apps and content. But today, Samsung sent out an email to customers announcing that My Knox is being discontinued and will no longer be available on new Samsung handsets this year. Those using My Knox will be able to keep using it until the end-of-service date, which has not yet been announced. However, Sammy will no longer support the feature.

Now don't think for a second that the world's leading smartphone provider would leave its customers high and dry. Samsung suggested in its email that Knox users switch to the newer Secure Folder app available from the Galaxy Apps store. The app requires your Galaxy handset to be running Android Nougat, and creates an encrypted, private space on your phone where private information can be securely stored.

To move over information from My Knox to Secure Folder, open the settings in My Knox and tap on Backup and restore. You then need to import the data into Secure Folder by going into the app's settings, click on Backup and restore, and then on Restore.

As for My Knox, once the end-of-service date comes, this is one sandbox that Samsung users won't be playing in anymore.
